The objectives of the Club

The objectives of the Club shall be to promote and encourage the sport of kayaking and canoeing and associated activities and any other activities organised by Club members.

Club members are people like you, who live in Dumfries & Galloway and South Ayrshire. Visitors to the Area can also partake in club activities.

Recreation: Recreational kayaking/canoeing is an activity for everyone. The adventurous types look to run steep white water rivers, enjoying the speed and excitement. Others prefer watery wanderings on the slower flowing rivers, canals and lochs.  Sea Kayaking offers a special kind of freedom.

Historically sea kayaking is one of the earliest forms of paddling; it is environmentally friendly and appeals to all who enjoy open spaces, salt air and the feeling of being at one with nature. The sea is not, however, a big loch and the sea has a character which needs to be understood.

Blue Water kayaking Club Stranraer: a sport for everyone

If you paddle a kayak for the first time, you are bound to become addicted. On the water, you will relish the graceful sensation of gliding over sleek, rolling waves. On shore side, you will find yourself planning trips and craving the feel of a paddle in your hands. Kayaking is remarkably accommodating; it's easy to learn, it's great exercise, it's educational and it's fun. The best thing about kayaking is that it is suitable for all ages from teenager to the senior enthusiast. All you really need is some basic instruction and a desire for adventure.

As a recreational activity, kayaking has only come upon the scene in the last decade. The sport has gained unprecedented popularity. Tour groups and sports stores cater to the kayak enthusiast. Extended expeditions or weekend excursions are available to explorers, naturalists or the casual paddler. Kayaking is quickly becoming one of the most popular self-propelled recreational activities in Scotland and the UK.
