Club Equity Policy
Equity Statement
“Equity is about fairness and access for all."
Blue Water Kayak Club Stranraer is
committed to equal opportunities for all sectors of the community.
It is the policy of the Club to
ensure that all participants, volunteers, coaches or parents receive equal
treatment regardless of age, gender, marital status, employment status, social
class, colour, race, ethnic or national origin, religious belief or disability.”
Sports equity is about fairness in sport, equality of access, recognizing
inequalities and taking steps to address them.
Equal Opportunities Policy
This club is committed to ensuring
that equity is incorporated across all aspects of its development.
In doing so it acknowledges and
adopts the definition of sports equity stated above.
The club respects the rights, dignity and worth of every person and will treat
everyone equally within the context of their sport, regardless of age, ability,
gender, race, ethnicity, religious belief, sexuality or social/economic status.
The club is committed to everyone having the right to enjoy their sport in an
environment free from threat of intimidation, harassment and abuse.
All club members have a responsibility to oppose discriminatory behaviour and
promote equality of opportunity. The club aims to ensure that all members are
aware of, understand and follow the club’s equity statement.
The club will increase awareness within the club of the needs of those who face
discrimination and will deal with any incidence of discriminatory behaviour
seriously, according to club disciplinary procedures.
The rules of the club state that
discriminatory language or behaviour is not acceptable.
The club aims to remove any barriers or ‘perceived’ barriers to participation
and will consider equal opportunities in all its activities.
The club will ensure that premises are accessible to all, including those with
physical disabilities
Review
This Policy and these Procedures will be regularly reviewed and monitored for
effectiveness:
In accordance with changes in legislation and guidance on Equity or following
any changes set out by the Scottish Canoe Association.
Following any issues or concerns raised about Equity within the Blue Water Kayak
Club.
In all other circumstances, at least every three years.
Complaints
If any member, has reason to complain about the club’s equity policy or about
the way an equity matter has been dealt with,
they should initially raise the
matter with the Club Committee ASP.
